How can I search for a house on Vakantiehuizen4u.nl?
If you are looking for house at Vakantiehuizen4u.nl you can use the search engine. There are several ways to search.
- You can search by country and region, go to the left side of the screen and click on a country or region.
- You can search by criteria, click the 'Search' button.
- You can search with different criteria’s after clicking on the 'Advanced Search' button.

Placing an advertisement

How do I place an ad?
- Click on “Place Ad”.
- If you already have an account, you must log in first using your e-mail address and your password.
- If you do not have an account, click on 'Create Account'.
- Fill in your details and click 'Create Account'.
- Click 'Continue'.
- Fill in all required details in the fields and click 'Continue'.
- You can now add photos to your Ad.
- If you are ready with adding photos, click on 'Next', bottom in the page.
- You see a preview of your ad. Click 'Confirm' to place your ad or 'Modify' to change it.

When your ad has been checked by us then it will be placed on the website, you will receive an e-mail to confirm that the ad has been placed.

How do I create a good ad?
Put yourself in the shoes of the tenant and ask yourself what you would like to know about the holiday homes that you would like to hire.

A good description of the house clearly reflects and provides valuable information to potential tenants, and they will also give them a good impression that you're a decent landlord who takes care of his house.
Title:
Use words that appeal to future tenants and search engines:
• Use descriptive keywords that clearly convey what you want to rent
• Type of house: Bungalow, villa, cottage, farm, etc.
• Country and region where the house is located
• Number of people that can stay in the house
• Other relevant features
• If you use our calendar, please keep it up to date if the house has been rented, as it is extremely annoying for potential tenants who search by date to find houses that are already occupied.

Rental prices:
Enter the (starting) price for which the vacation house can be rented to encourage visitors to look at your ad.

Information about the landlord:
The more the tenant knows about you the better, so always fill in the place where the object is located.
Mention your name, address and phone number, this makes it easier for the tenant to contact you and promotes the success of renting your house, it also gives a more personal touch and inspires confidence.

Photo:
A picture is worth a thousand words, always place a recent photograph with your ad. The first photo that you place appears next to your ad on the search results page. Add more pictures if you have them.

Description:
Summary - Use the first few sentences of your description to summarize what you offer. This summary will then be visible on the search result pages.
List the characteristics of the holiday home and describe the facilities in the area.

Ask yourself the following questions:
- What kind of facilities does the house have?
- What are the dimensions (floorspace m²)?
- Does the house have a garden? How big is it?
- Are there any special characteristics?
- Does it have a special background or history?
- How far is the house from the necessary facilities (shops, etc.)?

The state of the object: give a short and clear description of the condition of the house and, if applicable, when it was last renovated.

Specify other information such as payment terms, additional costs, etc.

How do I change my ad?
- Log in using your e-mail address and password.
- `select` the ad you want to change.
- Adjust the data.
- Save your changes.
- Please note that Vakantiehuizen4u.nl monitors all changes. If your ad(s) no longer meet our guidelines they will be disabled or, if necessary, removed.

How do I remove my ad?
- Log in using your e-mail address and password.
- `select` the ad you want to delete.
- Click the '`delete` Ad' button at the bottom of the page.
To `delete` your account please send a message to info@vakantiehuizen4u.nl and we will `delete` it for you.

Placing photos with my ad

How do I place a photo with my ad?
Uploading a photo (up to 5Mb) may take up to several minutes, depending on your connection. After placing a photo it may seem as if nothing happens, please wait for a few minutes so that photo can be uploaded.

Which types of files are accepted for photos with an ad?
- Photographs can be from 50 KB up to 5 MB in size.
- Photographs must be of filetype jpg (jpeg), gif or png.
- There are no limits on the sizes of the photos. When photos are too large, we automatically decrease their size to fit most modern computerscreens.

My picture is too large to place with my ad. What should I do?
Reduce your photo easily with the program Paint. This program comes with Microsoft Windows operating systems.
- Click the 'Start' button.
- Go to "Programs", `select` "Accessories" and open the program 'Paint'.
- Open the image.
- Go to 'Image' and `select` 'zoom' (Ctrl + W). Fill in the image percentage in that you want to reduce (e.g. 50%). Click 'Ok'.
- Go to 'File' and choose 'Save'. Save the image as a PNG file on your hard disk.

How do I change the photo with my ad?
- Log in using your e-mail address and password.
- `select` the ad you want to change.
- Browse and `select` the correct photos on your computer and upload them.
- Save your changes.

Why are the pictures with my ad compressed?
Many advertisers place photos with their ads that are made with excellent digital cameras. Although these photos are of high quality they are also very large; often larger than any common computerscreen can display. Vakantiehuizen4u.nl has chosen to offer advertisers the convenience of an automatic compression so that you don't have to change the format of your photos before editing them into your advertisement.

It is important that our visitors can quickly browse through the ads. The three images in the ads must therefore load fast, for visitors with a slower internet connection. A small savings in file size per photo makes a huge difference for the storage of all data and photos of all ads.

Vakantiehuizen4u.nl compresses all images that are uploaded. The file size of each image is reduced. We ensure that all pictures remain of good quality after compressing. It isn't possible to alter the level of compression in your account.

Free advertising.
Information about free advertisements
• The standard ad placement is free of charge (up to 5 ads per customer). If you want to place more than 5 free ads then you should contact us (info@vakantiehuizen4u.nl) and we will adjust your account so that you can place more free advertisements.
• There are no costs to extend your ad for the new term of one year free advertising.

When will my ad appear?
Your ad will be placed within 24 hours. Vakantiehuizen4u.nl will notify you when your vacation home is listed on our website.

How often has my ad been viewed?
You can see how often your ad your ad has been viewed. In your personal data in your ad under 'viewed' is the number of times a visitor viewed your ad.

How long will my vacation home be listed on Vakantiehuizen4u.nl?
Your ad will remain on Vakantiehuizen4u.nl until December 31st of the year in which the ad is placed. About 4 weeks before your ad expires you will receive an e-mail to prolong your ad(s). Your ad is then prolonged until the 31 of December of the next year. Prolonging your ad is free of charge. If you do not respond to the e-mail within 4 weeks, your ad will automatically be disabled and later be removed from our website.

I see the message that the time to renew my ad has expired, but I would like to extend my ad.
If your ad has been deactivated and you still want to advertise, send a message to Vakantiehuizen4u.nl and we will extend your advertisement period and put your ad back on line.

Can I also advertise in another language than English?
Vakantiehuizen4u.nl is a Dutch website that focuses on Dutch visitors. You can place ads in English and Dutch, other languages may follow in the future. If you place an ad in English, we can also translate it in Dutch. The translation costs €10 for a maximum of 150 words. If you make use of our booking service then the translation is free of charge. When other languages become available we will offer you the same possibility of translation, if you want to advertise in more languages.

How can I pay my translation fee from abroad?
As a foreign advertiser you can transfer the amount to account number:

My Ad

I don't see my ad on the website.
If your ad is not visible after you have received a confirmation e-mail, then please contact us. Here is how you can find your ad.

If you have a Vakantiehuizen4u.nl "account, you can log on the website. Then you get an overview of all your posted ads.
Click on the link in the confirmation e-mail you received after you placed your ad. If you didn't receive a confirmation e-mail then your ad hasn't been posted on Vakantiehuizen4u.nl.

You can find your ad by browsing the site. Click on the group and then the category you chose for your vacation home. If your ad is not listed on the first page then go to the next page.

Cache: It is possible that your internet browser has loaded an old page. Please try again, by pressing Control (Ctrl) and F5 at the same time.

Why is my ad inactive?
You can find the reason for deactivation in the deactivation message you received. For more information send a message to info@vakantiehuizen4u.nl,

My ad is not accepted, I get an error.
If your ad is rejected it may be that it does not comply with our terms and conditions. If you send a copy of the ad text to info@vakantiehuizen4u.nl, we will check it for you and look for a solution.

How can I renew my ad?
Your ad will remain on Vakantiehuizen4u.nl until December 31st of the year in which the ad is placed, about 4 weeks before your ad expires you will receive an e-mail that you can prolong your ads if you wish. Your ad is then prolonged from the day prolonged it until the 31 of December of the next year. Prolonging your ad is free of charge. If you do not respond to this e-mail within 4 weeks, your ad will be automatically deactivated and later removed from our website.

You can prolong your ad by logging into your account and then clicking the Extend option. You will receive a confirmation e-mail.

I can't place any more ads. What happened?
You have either reached our maximum number of free ads (5, unless you email us and ask for more), or your account was involved in a violation of our policy or terms and conditions. In the latter case, Vakantiehuizen4u.nl will exclude the advertiser and make it impossible for him to place ads on Vakantiehuizen4u.nl. When there is a misunderstanding then an advertiser can request that we unblock the account by contacting us.

Why was my ad removed?
If an ad does not comply with our policies, terms and conditions, Vakantiehuizen4u.nl reserves the right to remove the ad. If you have any questions about the removal of an advertisement, please contact us.

Deleted and deactivated ads

Can I put removed ads back on Vakantiehuizen4u.nl?
No, any removal of an ad by the advertiser or Vakantiehuizen4u.nl is final. Upon removal, the ad is deleted from our database.

What is deactivation?
Deactivate is the blocking of your ad so that it is no longer visible on our website. This happens when an ad either expires (isn't renewed when the new year starts) and when our rules are violated. If your ad hasn't expired, please check your listing to ensure that it meets our terms and guidelines before contacting us to request reapproval.

What's the difference between deactivated and deleted?
If your ad was deactivated, it can be reactivated when you have updated it. If an ad is deleted by the advertiser or Vakantiehuizen4u.nl then it is removed from our database and cannot be retrieved.

Errors

Are there currently any technical problems at Vakantiehuizen4u.nl?
We are not aware of technical problems with our website. If the problem persists, please contact us by email and describe the problem, then we will look into the matter.

My Account

How do I log in?
- Click on 'My Account' on the top of the website
- Enter your e-mail address and password
- Click on the button 'Login'

I didn't receive an e-mail to confirm placement of my ad.
The e-mail to confirm that you added a vacation home is sent immediately, but may take a little while to arrive, depending on your ISP. If you use a Hotmail or MSN mail address, messages from Vakantiehuizen4u.nl may be added to your "Junk e-mail” folder. This can be changed as follows:
- Click in Hotmail on 'Contacts' and then 'safe list'.
- Enter 'Vakantiehuizen4u.nl' as domain name.
- Now your confirmation messages will automatically arrive in your 'Inbox'.

If you use another provider, please make sure to check your spam settings. If you can't resolve the problem, please contact us.

How do I change the e-mail address with my ad(s)?
- Log in using your e-mail address and password
- Click the link 'My Account'
- Make the changes and click '`update` my information'
- The e-mail address listed with your ads is now changed

I can't login to edit or `delete` my ads.
If you lost your password then you can retrieve it by clicking "Forgot your password? Click here to recover it" on the "My Account" page. A new password will be sent to your e-mail address.
If you have another problem with logging in please contact us.

How can I retrieve my password?
If you have forgotten your password, you can retrieve your password as follows:
- Click on 'My Aaccount'.
- Click on the link "Forgot your password? Click here to recover it"
- Enter your e-mail address and click on 'Recover password'.
You will receive an e-mail with a new password at the e-mail address you provided.

How do I change my password?
- Log in using your e-mail address and password
- Click the link 'Change Password'
- Fill your new and current password and click 'Change password'
- Your password is now changed.

How do I change my information?
- Click the link 'My Account'
- Log in using your e-mail address and password
- Make the changes and click '`update` my information'
- The information in your ads is now changed

I got a confirmation that I placed an ad, but I did not place one.
Someone may have abused your e-mail address. If you approved the ad by accident, please contact Vakantiehuizen4u.nl. Send your confirmation message e-mail so that we can remove the ad.
