Heerlijk vrijstaand vakantiehuis op Karpathos

In may 2005 we finished building our new holiday-house on Karpathos (70 m²).

The house is build in greek style in the middle of an olive-yard (1000 m²). There is, of course, a terrace ( 50 m²) with a pergola. Here you can enjoy the surroundings, see the sea in the distance, enjoy your home-made diner or take a sunbath.

The house is ideal for 4 persons. It has two bedrooms, each with two beds of 2.20 m long. There is a possibility for a fifth person. Next to that there is a bed for children up till about three years.

In the well equipped kitchen you can prepare your, hopefully tasty, meals.

Of course there is a bathroom with shower. In it there is also a washing-machine. Outside we made a cold water shower.

In these surroundings, only 10 minutes by foot from the lovely village Volada, it’s restful and you see hardly any tourists. Here you get the feeling to be a Greek amongst the Greek. So don’t be surprised if somebody puts some fruits, grapes or egg-plants on the outside-table.

From this place you can make magnificent walks. For instant to mount Kali Limni (1215 m) the Flaskia gorge, or around the mountains on the left of the house. You will have splendid views on the sea and surroundings and hardly meet people. During the walks you might take a rest at Tannassis Tavern.

Our house is situated in the Pini valley, about 500 m above sealevel. It’s near to the village Volada and it takes a 30 minutes walk to Othos. In these villages are some minimarkets. The have small but really nice greek restaurants like ‘Klimataria’ with really nice food, Antonios Tavern (lovely shrimps souvlaki) and in Othos f.i. you can eat nice pizza’s or have a great greek salad with pitabread.

At the bakery in Aperi (8 minutes by car) we buy lovely bread. Here we love to eat for it’s not spoiled and the prices are right.

By car it is about 20 minutes to the capital Pigadia, where we do some extensive shopping, and about 40 minutes to the airport.

Most inhabitants of Karpathos say that the Pini valley is one of the nicest places of Karpathos to have a house. Nearby (15 minutes walk) there is a pass from which you see both sides of the island. From here you also might see beautiful sunsets.

In about 15 - 20 minutes by car you can reach the beaches of Achata, Kato Lako, Kyra Panagia or Apela. This last beach has been called several times the nicest beach of the Mediterranian.

But there are so much more beautiful beaches on Karpathos.
